Hello, this is my First time brewing and I am getting ready to strain and filter my brew. How do I sterilize my silicone hose and Barb in -line Strainer? Thank You in advance.

Most people don't filter their beers.

Are you talking about wort prior to fermentation, or finished beer?

When I started I started to worry about these crazy things of filtering and what not. Researching filters blah blah blah. Glad I never got into it. Best filter is time and even better cold crash before transferring if you can. Add finnings on top and you get the perfect one.

I could be wrong , but I'm making a honey mead.. is that the same process to making beer? Also I have never part of cold crashing or finning.

I use bentonite for mead . Works great . Its a fining agent , not a filter. Check out the mead section .

Personally I always use time first. Mead needs a lot of time for flavor anyway. if you have to use fining, it is honey wine, so wine finings are much more appropriate.

This was posted in the "Beginners Beer Brewing Forum" with the question of "how to filter my brew", and not the "Wine Making, Mead, or Cider" forum. It was a bit confusing.
