Asking because when I purge my fv after transfer, it reads different than the regulator gauge. I have a Spike PRV and kegco regulator. They are about 3-4 psi difference in the two. Makes it hard to know if I am getting the right carbonation too.

If your pressure gauges are liquid filled, you can try removing and replacing the fill port at the top of the gauge case (rubber plug).

Sometimes the difference in barometric pressure between where the gauge was assembled and where you’re using it can induce errors. Also, shipping by air can lead to gauge errors since the gauges in partial pressure cargo bays can reduce the pressure differential between inside and outside the gage when/where you use it.

I saw as much as a 4 psig difference between two Spike gauges and several old reliable pressure and spunding valves I’ve used for years. I removed the rubber fill cap, then replaced it. This made the inside gage case the same as local baro pressure. The resulting gage readings were then within 1 psig of my other gages, which is well within normal gage error for this type application.

All you have to do is pop and immediately replace the cap for pressures to equalize. Worth a try.

Sounds good! I have a spare Spike gauge so I'll try it in case I mess up. Sounds simple, but I know me...
