Im feeling like experimenting a bit tonight and was thinking of whipping up a 1 gallon mini batch of chocolate stout. I dont have any yeast on hand but i do have a bunch-o- homebrew bottles and was thinking of just opening like 3 and pouring all but the last inch or so of each into a pitcher for later consumption and then pouring the bit of beer and sediment from the bottles into the 1 gallon jug of wort. Does anybody think that thia would be enough yeast for that size batch? I know i could make a starter from that yeast but feel like this way would be a bit more fun.
