How much sugar to carbonate a 1ltr bottle?

I'm making homemade ginger beer in grolsch style hinged topped bottles. I've sweetened the mixture using artificial sweeteners like Xylitol and Stevia so I don't have to worry about too much carbonation and my bottles exploding. How much sugar should I add to the bottles to make sure the soda carbonates but doesn't explode?
