This is going to sound dumb, but what if I used MORE gelatin finings than the recommended 1/2 teaspoon per 5 gallons?
How much?
Well, what about a full TABLESPOON?
Anyone ever used more than prescribed?
 
If you use more it'll just clump together and drop out anyway. No damage done, but not needed. I also used (past tense....haven't bothered for over a year) 1 tsp per 5 gallons.
 
More doesn't achieve anything. Teaspoon is fine. I see better results by chilling for a couple days before adding the gelatin. Then mix it up well.

Lol. I actually did the same thing first time I used gelatin. Didn’t notice anything bad, other than trub was little more jelly than usual. Should be fine
 
As mentioned, more shouldn't harm anything but isn't needed. One teaspoon is what I used in both my pilsner and amber and they both came out crystal clear. Here's the pilsner:
