Me. I was planning on doing a few batches of beer using my keezer but Noooooo.

It’s now being used as a freezer overflow.

No biggie. I can ferment lagers now at ambient temp of 55-60. Others have much bigger worries now.

Best and most sincere wishes to all with real covid related problems.

We have 4 freezers already, plus we can/preserve a lot of food so the cellar is full of stuff.
I just filled a keg in the keezer today. I'm stuck at home for two weeks because I travelled, so got to make sure the taps don't run dry.

Ha! That's a win to get a glycol chiller out of this situation.

On a serious note I hope everyone is doing ok. I think the economic impact is just as bad as the health impacts so far. I can say for myself my job is on the line because of it.

Cheers to everyone. This time will pass

I could comfortably sacrifice one of my three top-freezer fridges (17cf x2 and a 22cf) to whatever proves necessary.
More than that means we'd have to kill at least four kegs in a hurry. But the keezer is right out! :D

Cheers!

Agreed. Hope everyone is doing ok and staying healthy. Sorry to hear about your job. Hope it works out for you man. You in the restaurant business?

I'm trying to lose weight, so not eating all that much, my freezer is still a keezer.
No plans to change that, and getting fresh meat isn't an issue around here.

Yeah, me losing my keezer to food storage is nothing compared to what others are experiencing.

I figured I could make a light hearted comment.

I may make a few batches and charge my neighbors to fill growlers. I would only charge enough to cover ingredients.

Anybody who's repurposed their keezer, at least we know who bought all the damn chicken. Hope it gives you the sh*ts so you can use your garage full of TP.

Eggs, cheese and butter too!! They're all gone. What the hell are ppl going to do with that many eggs, cheese and butter?!?!

Some pretty sad, selfish, and panicked responses to C-19.
President says they are producing 10s of millions of rolls today, but no idea on delivery date.
Hoping to pickup a couple of sacks today if the local is open. Closing all inessential businesses tonight at 8. Be safe

My hop freezer was already being used for food overflow - plenty of space for everything in it. Very glad I got a larger size than I really needed at the time.

I could say i live off dry beans and don't need a freezer......(but i don't want you pillaging the store for those too, lol)

and i have 50lb's of rice bran for most of my b vitamins.....and i bought last year just to save money......

and i don't need a freezer for my flax seeds, and sunflower seeds either....

and hey, wait, i don't keep my kegs in a freezer??? ;)

Jesus. I have a small chest freezer in addition to the keezer; no way I'm buying more food. I could live for 3-4 weeks on what I have now. What do you possibly fill 4 freezers with??

You guys know the grocery stores are going to be open every single day for the duration of covid-19, right? Why are you increasing your purchasing?

These are strange times. I have no idea how the supply chain will be affected if this lockdown stretches months or years. We are by no means hoarding but stocking up for a rainy day can't hurt.

I swear before this our family used 2-3 rolls of tp per week.
Now, jeezus for some crazy reason it seems like that # has tripled.

Understood. However, limiting exposure is the name of the game. If you live in a dense urban center, it’s irresponsible to go to the grocery store every day.
By no means am I hoarding. But I do have several weeks of food for the family. It’s a win win for us and all the grocery store workers who have no choice in the matter (plus all the shoppers).

Or any area. We're out in the sticks but have cut our provisions sorties down to once a week, and that's beginning to feel like a military mission with the crack of dawn "Seniors Hour" trip to the local supermarket...

Cheers!

In our house we are still working through the big package of toilet paper we bought a month ago before all the hoarding started. About 10 days ago I passed it up in the aisle despite the news of coming shortages. Why buy any more than you normally do? I'll admit that I bought a 4 lb bag of mayocobas vs. my normal 1 pound bag and a few extra cans of whole tomatoes, but that was just in case we needed to start making pots of soup. On Saturday when we went to a couple of stores the shelves were cleared and the lines at the checkout were legitimately 45 minutes long for no damned reason. Today we went around 3pm and the shelves were stocked, no lines at all, and we passed up the toilet paper since we still have enough.

Since I'm no longer driving in to work the car hasn't been gassed up in two weeks and we're driving on a little less than 1/4 tank but I see no reason to fill it up just yet. I can do that tomorrow. Because there will be a tomorrow. It might be worse than today in the number of infected but hey, the number of recovered is rising too. We'll get through this.

I do have a strong suspicion that some folks are taking a certain measure of gratification in all of the panic just because it vindicates all the doom and gloom they've always been obsessed with, but I'll be damned if I'm going to let their paranoid schizophrenic freakout change the way I live.

It's real simple; self isolate. Try to delay getting infected as long as possible so that when you eventually do, surgical masks and ventilators will be available should you need them, though the overwhelming odds are that you won't. But as sure as the sun rise we can all count on being exposed at some point and timing is everything.

Oh, and my keezer is only filled with beer.

This is it exactly. Where I live, the grocery stores are still stocked (even TP!) so if I buy an extra frozen pizza or pack of hamburger to freeze so I don't have to go out again for a few weeks, I feel like I am helping everyone.

Nobody is talking about hoarding here, just taking extra precautions. Pretending everything is business as usual these days helps no one.

Really? We are still stocked with eggs, cheese and butter here in Ontario, Canada, but toilet paper is still scarce.

Up where we lived I have always kept a stock of food on hand in case we get snowed or iced in. As long as the power is on we are good.
I shop using the idea of twos: 2 doz eggs, , 2 jugs of milk, two squash, 2 jars of peanut butter.... That way I have food for a few days and others can too.

Luckily we live far enough out that we are normally stocked up to last for a long time anyways. We haven’t had to buy any staples since before all of this has started going crazy, but haven’t had a hard time getting any produce or milk. We still try and limit going to town once every 2 weeks. As for the freezer, we have a very large upright that we keep stocked with game and vegetables, and hops... the keezer is sitting empty since we moved, need to change that soon. Just hoping everybody is staying safe, I’m happy to still be working but it’s definitely a different scene at work right now.
