Hey brewers
First post here. I'm only 9 batches in but loving it...
Anyhow, I bottled my IPA 5 days ago and know it needs time to condition. My question is: do IPAs require he same amount of time to condition? I've somehow gathered that the oils degrade with time conditioning, and that perhaps IPAs are best drunk "green". When is the ideal time to start drinking IPAs? Thanks!!

Mine are usually drinkable at a week and best at two weeks. Once they're fully carbed keep them chilled to keep them fresher longer

you'll lose some of the hops if you wait too long, just test one every couple of days (after at least a week if not two) and once it is good enjoy.. no reason to age IPAs so when they taste good bottoms up!

Reviving this thread to avoid creating a new one.

I bottled a nice IPA on oct 27 and kept it carbing at a steady 68°F until now.

Two days ago I oppened a 12oz with crown cap and it was carbed, with an intense hop aroma and flavor.

Yesterday I oppened a 16oz fliptop bottle and I believe it has reached full carb (2.3 vol), but the smell was weaker, as well as the flavor.

So this is weird for me... could it be the cap type that affects hop character? Also, if I feel that the beer has carbed well, should I cold condition the beer from today? (it is aimed for a competition, samples will be judged in 1.5 weeks).
