How long to boil wort?

I do the partial wort boil where I boil the extract with some water in a pot and then dump it in the fermenter, followed by cold or hot water to get temp to where I want it. How long should it boil on the stove for?

Are you using hops? If you're adding hops, generally the hops need to boil for an hour, but some recipes call for only a 45 minute boil.

If you're not using hops because you're using hopped extract, then there isn't any need to boil at all.
