Hi everyone,

I made my first batch of cider back in November 2012 (was uncarbonated due to errors ;) )...it still tasted half decent, but I'm wondering how long it will last once it's opened and how long will it last unopened?

I have it stored in a dark room in my basement and once some bottles are open I've had it in my kitchen cupboard...doesn't seem to effect the taste that much -- curious on feedback.

Thanks for your time!

Unopened, it will last for years but will start to degrade with time depending on how much tannin and alcohol is in the cider.

Once opened, just like a bottle of wine, air will oxidize it rather quickly. If you don't mind that flavor, that's fine. I dislike a bottle of wine even the next day once opened, due to the oxidation flavors. Others don't mind it.

Wine vaccums work great for my still ciders/meads that I don't want to finish a whole bottle of, I never let the second half sit more than a week though.
