Ok all you all grainer's, how long do you boil 60 or 90? I have read that you get better hop utililzation in 90 min boils and more concentrated flavors.. Tell me what you think. I am going to try my hand at an ESB today and just wanted a little input.

I aim for 60 minutes with an ESB, but keep going if it hasn't reached the notch in my measuring spoon that tells me that I will have 5.25g in the primary after adding 1qt of yeast starter. Usually ends up at about 60 - 75 minutes.

-a.

I usually spend around 10 minutes avoiding a boilover and then boil for 60. Any longer and I have more boiloff than I like. I certainly wouldn't be opposed to a longer boil if I had a larger kettle, at least for some styles. With a light beer I'd be concerned about wort darkening, but maybe that's not an issue if you have a large enough boil.

Most of the time I boil the wort for 60 minutes after the hot break clears. Throwing pellets into the pot before the hot break is just begging for a boilover.
