How long are bottle caps good for?

A co worker picked up THOUSANDS of Schlitz bottle caps that are unused. He can't stand to see things go to waste. How can I tell if they are usable?

if they dont have rust on them Id say they are good to go.

If they are not rusty and the seal isn't falling apart they should be fine. If they are the old style cork seals I wouldn't use them.
