How important is temperature with a starter?

I live in a hot climate and my ambient temps in my apartment are mid 70’s at night mid 80’s during the day. Will this be ok while I’m at work? If not I’ll put it in the room with A/C but I prefer not to run it when I’m not at home. If I have to I will.

Should be fine. You're making yeast not beer, so off flavors are irrelevant.
