I just rediscovered brewing in 2010 after a short hiatus (living and job situations prevented me from brewing).

In 2010 from October on I did this:

-Built a 3 tap keezer to replace my single tap fridge, which will now be a fermentation fridge.

-Got a wort chiller

-New brewpot

-Brewed 4 beers in 3 months (more than I ever did before)

-Built an MLT and switched to all grain

-Bought two more carboys

-Bought a food saver and a bunch of bulk hops to save $$$$

Upgraded to 240 square foot brewery, got a 50lb co2 tank. and 1//3 bbl all grain system

all from cooking on the stove extract in Feb lol i'm insane,,,,

I was busy in 2010!

.

Ahhh, someday. After watching your build, I've been working on the wife. I've almost got her convinced to either sell or move our hot tub so I can build something like this in its place. I'm trying to convince her (and myself I suppose) that there is nothing wrong with having 2 bars in our house.

I built this in 2010
MonsterMillCart.jpg

I still love this pic. Maybe it's just the lighting, but that thing looks like it's made of platinum. Beautiful!

As for me, I started brewing in late January of 2010. Today I have:

A full bar with 6 taps
Single tier AG setup
10 cornies
20lb and (2) 5lb co2 tanks & a half dozen regulators
(4) 6.5g & (3) 5g carboys & a 6.5g bucket
Temp controlled fermentation chest freezer
Cold crashing, beer storage, lagering, mug fridge/freezer
Grain Mill
500+ lbs of grain
6+ lbs of hops
vacuum sealer
and an endless list of miscellaneous brewing equipment (thermometers, hydrometer, etc...)
and my most recent build - the automatic carboy/cornie/keggle washer

I guess 2010 was a good year. :) Now I can't wait to see what 2011 brings! :mug:

•Built a 4 keg kegerator
•8 gallon brew pot (up from 5 gal)
•Started doing full boil partial mash brews
•Ordered all-grain equipment (although the blichmann burner wont be here for a couple of weeks I suppose)

So THATS where all my money went :)

For 2010:

-Built a keg washer
-Built a line cleaner
-Built an auto-siphon sanitizer chamber (holds 2 L)
-Bought a digital refractometer on Christmas night after the fat man didn't bring me one.
-Got an extra 2L flask (for my second stirplate or as a breakage backup)
-Got an O2 wand to replace the stone at the end of a tube setup
-Got a real O2 regulator (now I just need a flowmeter and DO meter)
-Got a new grain scale
-Replaced all brass/copper with stainless (ok, except for the chiller water fittings. Do they even make stainless garden hose fittings?)
-Replaced HLT HERMS unit with a 5 gal stainless, PID controlled, electric one
-Replaced all bulkhead fittings with welded
-Replaced all thermocouples with RTDs
-Added kegerator shelf to go from 2 to 4 brews on tap
-Should have added 4 gauge secondary regulator (supplier messed up and sent the wrong thing)
-Should have installed perlick faucets (another supplier still hasn't shipped yet. What's wrong with on line retailers?)

8020.net I think is their site, check it out. It's fun stuff.

I'll post up the dimensions as I have the sketch at work I think and I'm home now. The motor is the standard 1725 rpm AC motor for a swamp cooler. You can get them at Home Depot for 50 bucks or less (I got mine for 30). The motor pulley is the smallest one I could find at 1.5" diameter and fits the standard 4L belt. The sheave is 12" but it has a 5/8" bore so you need to shim it down to 1/2" which is easy. Shims are readily available. The mill is the MM3-2.0 with hardened rollers and the 11 lb capacity hopper. The belt I used is a 3L440 Gates belt which is thinner than a 4L so it rides lower in the groove to lower rpm a tad more. 12" is about the biggest sheave you can run with this setup as a 14 will hit the hopper I reckon.

After finally graduating college and getting a real job, I am finally able to afford real brewing equipment.
In 2010 I got
  • 6.5 gal fermentor
  • 5 gal fermentor
  • turkey fryer kit w/ 7.5 gal pot
  • supplies to build a counterflow chiller
  • bottle tree
  • bench apper
  • 10 gal rubbermaid (found it at home depot on new years eve!)

not I just have to finish my manifold and get started with all grain!

Is my wife monitoring this forum? If so my brewery didn't increase. Just in case she is not here I added:

* New kettle
* Kegging set up
* New keezer
* New chiller pump
* New burner
* New MLT
* New immersion chiller
* Lager fridge
* 2 additional carboys
* New cabinets and shelving for storage
* Began purchasing grain by the sack and hops by the pound

Not as impressive as some, but way too impressive from SWMBO. In 2010 I built a Brutus 10:

But more to the point, made an awesome brewing friend who taught me to weld, helped me with all my projects, and has helped take my beer from "Meh, it's drinkable" to "Holy crap - you MADE this?!? I'd BUY this beer in a SECOND!"

Year's been topped off nicely with a 15 gallon Morebeer conical!
