I grab bottles out of recycling bins. So they're filthy. Sometimes I rinse them, most of the time I don't. I dump them in a big plastic bin. 2 scoops of oxyclean and hose water to the top. Let soak for 24 hours. After that I rinse and sanitize with a couple squirts of star san which I have in a spray bottle. Let drain on the bottle tree.
Never once had an infection. Works like a charm. Been doing this for years now.

I left some bottles soaking overnight in tap water and oxiclean. Now they have some bad mineral deposits on them. Could I clean the deposits off with Lemi Shine solution?

I wound not use the Lemi Shine, it might cause problems with foam/head retention. Acetic acid or citric acid should remove the spots.

Thanks! I'll check the store for those items. Do you think Lemi Shine will reduce head retention if I rinse the bejesus out of them? Oh, I also have some Star San but it's kind of expensive compared to alternatives.
