So I just installed a sight gauge into my keggle very similar to the one pictured below and it feels so fragile. I have the eyebolt in place with has helped a little but I feel like with as clumsy as I am I might kick the glass or catch it on something and crack/break it. It’s cheap enough to buy some replacements but I am looking for ideas on how to protect it from me. Like a metal cover that isn’t to expensive. I don’t know if you guys had any ideas? Pictures would be extra helpful. Thank you so much for the help!

If you get a metal cover than that kinda defeats the purpose no? I would just make a mental note to be careful around it.

What about a couple of orange cones next to it?

I was thinking of just hiring an air traffic controller for a few hours during brew day just to help with not hitting the glass.

If you have the tools/skills you could cut voids into 1/2" or 5/8" copper pipe or stainless tube and slide it over the glass.

something like this

or if you can find one that fits, just buy it

That's what I did. I slotted a SS tube and fit it over my HLT sight glass. I have nothing on my BK's sight glass and haven't broken it yet. Going on about three or four years.

I know you've already drilled holes in your keggle for that gadget, so this it's not really helping you.

To measure volume simply use a dipstick, a long brew spoon, dowel or any other marked stick works equally well. Even a ruler, e.g., 12" = 8 gallons, 1.5" per gallon. Also easy to clean.
