So I did as suggested and checked out Craigslist. I think I made a pretty decent deal. It was more than what I expected when I picked it up.
$200 got me
11 glass carboys (mostly in the 6 gal size I think)
4 - 24 gallon fermenters
2 - 12 gallon fermenters,
2 - 6 gallon fermenters all with lids,
2 hydrometers,
2 racking canes
bag of air locks/bungs
floor corker
two books
And some cleaning to do.

That's alot of fermentors. Your gonna need a real big chest freezer. Cheers

Back to Craigslist I suppose. [emoji16]
Maybe if I start one batch of something every month or so I'll be occupied enough to stay out of trouble.

It's gonna take alot more brewing than that. I'd say you can brew every other day hehe. Cheers

The floor corker alone is worth $100. What are you going to do with those large size fermenters? What are the 24, 12 and 6 gallon with lids fermenters material? Plastic?

For me I would have been interested in the other stuff and passed on the 11 glass carboys (IMO, too dangerous) but it is still a pretty good deal.

The fermenters are all plastic. Dangerous because of breakage possibility

Looks like whoever owned that stuff made wine. Did the primary in the 12 and 24 gallon fermenters then probably racked to the carboys for aging.
You got a great deal and if you're not going to make wine, you could sell off the floor corker and the big fermenters and have an even better deal.
I still use the big carboys for wine and cider, but for beer, they are just too much of hassle to get in and out of my freezer, and then more hassle to clean them. I've switched to 3 gallon plastic better bottles for brewing.

Yes, wine is my plan. I may not ever have use for ALL of the equipment, as there is quite a bit and I can only consume so much, but I'm going to give it a go.
ETA
Selling the big fermenters and floor corker isn't a bag idea.

I've been making wine for years WITHOUT a floor corker, but it would be nice to have, you may want to keep it.
The big fermenters are useful in wine making because you start with whole grapes and have to take the lid off and punch down the cap. Having the extra volume is helpful. If you are going to get into winemaking, I'd keep everything.

I took my Craigslist glass carboys to my LHBS and got $12 for each. Made enough to buy a fermonster and some hops. I originally planned on using them until I saw the thread with all the injuries when they break. I’m self employed and just cannot take risk.

You got a deal for sure! Congrats!

Never even thought of the lhbs. After getting my unitank and seeing how much easier it was to clean than my glass carboys I sold all 8 of the 6 gallon glass carboys on Craigslist and it took forever to get 60$ for them. I bought 2 fermonsters instead as my secondary backup system . I probably could have traded the glass in for the fermonsters and saved a few dollars. Oh well. To add salt to the wounds the fermonsters are still sitting in the boxes unused lol

Wow! Awesome deal.

I just love CL finds. I got my grain crusher for $40 ... $140 retail. Also a $40 carboy/keg cleaner ... a lot cheaper than buying d.i.y. parts. But I guess CL gives to you and you give back. About to list my older AG equipment on CL (and on here too so keep your eyes peeled!).

Have fun filling those fermenters! Cheers!

My LHBS is awesome! I stopped in Saturday to see if they could order a frememontasaurous (I’d rather spend my money with them then Amazon or eBay), and they had a basket of free stuff. I took 2 zucchini’s fresh from the owner’s wife’s garden and three ounces of Australian summer AA hops.

My brewing club usually meets there too including tonight. Tonight is tasting and judging members red IPAs.... and whatever else people want to bring.
