how are you heating your pressure cooker?

I use a pressure cooker for sterilizing my frozen yeast ranching equipment. I put a small amount of water in the bottom of the pot, add the equipment, close it up and let it run. I let it "rattle" for about 15 mins. Then I turn of heat and allow to cool for 1-2 hours.
 
Stardard gas stove. I use the 'high power' burner which is advertised at 15k btu I think? I use a Presto 23 quart pressure canner.
