In my small town there is a siren that blows everyday at noon, no idea what the heck that's about. but I figure when I retire it will be the "time to have a homebrew siren"

I grew up on a farm, but the nearest (small) town did a siren at noon and 6:00 pm. I always thought it was to let kids know it was time to go home for lunch/supper.

I think they still do it. I'm not 100% positive, though.

Oh the joys of Wikipedia. Reminds me of years ago when I showed someone how to mess with Wikipedia and I made it so most moths drink the milk of mice instead of the nectar of flowers.

I like to think that, somewhere out there, there is a precious idiot who read that page in that glorious moment, and still insists that moths drink mouse milk.
