Hot/Mulled Beer Ideas? Good Idea?

I was looking up some ideas last night about some ideas for drinking warm beer...like a mulled beer or something. Is there a certain beer that would be used for this? Certain other ingredients?

I saw one that looked kind of good. It was an old ale that you warm with a few spices and then put toast on top of it.

Any thoughts?

I think you're on the right track. Something malty and strong. Old Ale sounds like a good start. A maltier Barleywine would also be good. I could see the stronger darker Belgians working for this as well.
