Anyone ever use suction tubing that's used in hospitals in brewing? The times it comes to mind would be for racking and bottling mainly. Can't seem to figure out what this stuff is made of, though I know for sure it's not silicone. Thinking about using it because it's much more flexible than the tubing I got from Home Depot.

I thought it was latex. I wouldn't use it. Get food grade vinyl tubing.

It's almost always not latex any more (hardly anything in hospitals is these days due to latex sensitivity/allergies), it's a type of non-conductive plastic, though I don't know what exactly. It's not food grade(meant to suction to a waste container, not deliver anything to the patient) and typically 1/4 inch ID so would be pretty slow at racking. I wouldn't recommend using it, or any non food grade Home Depot tubing.

Good point about the latex sensitivities. Now that you mention it, I now see non-latex gloves hanging on the walls of my doctor's office.
