Just put an IPA 60 into the primary. This recipe calls for the addition of hops after fermentation. Is it ok to add these hops with my gelatin in the secondary? I was wondering if the gelatin would pull the hops to the bottom before flavoring the beer.

I usually use gelatin after I crash cool the carboy. So... why not dry hop for a week than crash cool. After a day add the gelatin.

Just starting out with home-brewing. I do not have the fridge setup for cold crashing. I usually add the gelatin when I transfer to the secondary and let it sit for 2 to 3 weeks then bottle. Having a great time, ready to convert an old freezer to a keg system as soon as I get enough time. Do you think it’s ok to add the hops and the gelatin at the same time or should I add the hops and let it sit a couple days and then add the gelatin? Was thinking about skipping the gelatin but it sure does clear the beer.

Crash cool, gelatin if still desired, rack and then dry hop.

That's what I would do.

btw - never used gelatin as I don't think it is needed if you Whirlfloc in the kettle and crash cool. After a few weeks in the keg my beers are clear as can be.

even if you don't cold crash, gelatin works in 48 hours (usually more like 24 hours). I would add hops for the last 7-10 days and add gelatin 2 days before bottling.

Thanks for the info. Primary is bubbling nicely and holding at 67 degrees in the basement.
