Hops affected by rust?

I use wire tomato cages to grow my hops. Will the rust from the metal have any affect on the plants?

Incidental rust stains would be a non-factor, imo.
But, growing hops in tomato cages?

These are just the upper 10 feet of some ~22' tall plants.


Unless there are dwarf strains I haven't read about, you're gonna need some pretty big cages...

Remember that hops bines are over 30' tall.................................
