Hoppy smell

My wort is currently in the primary (not beer yet because my yeast was dead, and I have to wait till Saturday to pitch it in there), but it looks good, it's a nut brown ale so its nice and dark. The smell, however, is overwhelmingly hoppy, can't smell any malt at all. Is this normal? I imagine it is.

Yes it is. Hop odors mellow with time.

if you are like me then you will quickly grow to love the smell of hops and sometime in the next couple brew make an IPA. I think that is next on my list!

i thought for a second it sayd "happy" smell...LOL... hoppy=happy i suppose
