Tried searching, but forum is still having issues today. Have got a couple of batches under my belt, but am looking to experiment a little more. Got some great advice from the LHBS, but completely forgot to ask "How much to use?" I know it will vary based on personal preferences, and not having the exact amounts already in the kit will make it more of a guesstimate, but I don't even know where to begin.

Looking to hop up a Yellow Dog Pale ale kit (moving it towards an IPA) http://www.homebrewery.com/images/Yellow-Dog.jpg with up to the 2 oz of the Cascade hop pellets I purchased.

Looking for something pretty hoppy, but don't want it to be overkill.
I am looking at adding a % of the Cascade at flame out, and another % after the fermenting has slowed down. Would an ounce at each step be overkill? Look forward to your suggestions.

Adding hops that late won't add many IBUs, just aroma.

An ounce at flame out and an ounce dry is on par with the IPAs I make.

I think you will definately be pleased with the result of an ounce of each at flameout and dryhopping, but you will not add much bitterness by doing so. If you do want to make it a little more bitter you can throw half an ounce extra at 60, then split the rest between flameout and dryhop. Best of luck.

Thanks guys -going with my initial plan, but your reassurance I was on the right track definitely increases the confidence level. Due to the good quality/selection of kits available at my LHBS I plan on sticking with kits for awhile, but I think tweaking them will be a nice way to keep things interesting. It is happily bubbling away.
