I just got finished brewing an all grain pale ale that I'm pretty excited about so I thought id share it.

12 gal batch - 81% eff
OG 1.055
FG 1.012
Abv 5.6%
IBU 31 (will seem like much more)
SRM 9.7

Grist
20lbs 2row
12oz crystal 80
8oz crystal 40
8oz crystal 120
8oz victory

Hops
.5 oz magnum fwh (90 min)
.5 oz magnum 60 min
.5 oz chinook 20 min
2 oz cascade 10 min
1 oz citra 1 min

1 oz each columbus, chinook, centennial, cascade at flameout - I did a whirlpool for 15 mins

Pitch WLP 001 cali ale yeast

Looks pretty good. Do you add flameout hops literally when the heat is turned off or wait til temp lowers a bit? I had really nice results quickly cooling to 180F then adding hops, hold/whirlpool for 15 min and then cool quickly to pitching temps.

I just cut the flame toss them in and periodically stir during that 15 mins. The hops create a very green vegetable soup like appearance throughout the whirlpool. This tells me that the lack of a heat source keeps them from fully breaking down which is why, im guessing, you get great flavor and aroma from this method.

I will also dry hop this beer with at least a half ounce of citra for a week possibly cascade and columbus as well.
