There are a lot of "stickeys" on this site to explain in detail a wide array of homebrewing topics. I think it would be extremely helpful to have an explanation of each of the major types of hops. Perhaps their most frequest uses(bittering vs. aroma) and a general description of the type of aroma that they give off.

I'd do it if I had the knowledge. I'm sure there's someone on here that can provide this.

thanks:mug:

I like to look over BYO's charts: http://***********/resources/hops

They use a drop down menu for each style. Helps me to separate the styles.

Look over their other Charts as well.

I was going through my old BYO issues last night and found a two-page spread in the March-April 2008 issue describing something like 50+ hops varieties. Also, Hop Union has a pretty extensive list published at http://www.hopunion.com/hopeducation.html under the "Hop Variety Data Booklet".

It took me forever to figure out what "C hops" meant, especially when people would mention Amarillo among them. Same with what varieties "noble hops" includes.
