I am about to head out to northern brewer to get some supplies for some summer brewing. One of the beers my wife wanted to make was their Rye Stout, our first batch leaked out of our keg, but wanted to make it hoppy.
Is there a good hop to add to stout. I'm leaning towards one of the C's.

You can use any hop that you want in a stout. Generally people stick to more earthy types like Kent Golding or Fuggles, but if you want something totally unique then go with a nice citrus hop like Centennial.
 
The body of a stout is going to cover up most hops, so you can add alot of IBUs to a stout without making it taste "hoppy."

Victory Storm King would be an example of a hoppy stout.

They state that they use all Pacific Northwest whole leaf hops.

Williamette, Centennial and Magnum are all common in stouts and native to the Pacific Northwest!
 
Thanks for the input. I was thinking of either dry hopping or adding at flameout. I love centennial but NB is out of stock. So I am leaning towards cascade or citra. I've never used citra though.

Citra's a great hop, but I wouldn't bother using it in a stout. Even though it's higher alpha, it's flavors and aromas can be really subtle. A stout wouldn't do Citra justice. Cascade would be a good choice for a hoppy American stout, IMO. I think out of the American hops, cascade, centennial, amarillo and simcoe would be my top choices for a hoppy dark brew.
 
Would Columbus work too? Could just be my palate but a little goes a long way for me so I feel like it could be picked up in a stout.

Betcha it'd be great! I really like columbus hops, never used em in a dark beer other that my black IPA and they were very good, but I use them in my Rye PA and they really pop.

Nice, the flavor of Columbus isn't my favorite but it's pretty versatile in that it's got fairly high alphas so it can be used to bitter and it's nice enough for flavor and aroma. I keep a couple ounces on hand...

Yeah, I love it. Enough to use it exclusively in my last IPA and in my Rye PA. Definitely not my favorite, I'm a Simcoe Amarillo guy, but columbus hops are tasty li'l buggers!
