gonna brew this tomorrow. What does everyone think of this hop schedule with for an IPA using 9lb DME. i have some left over hops trying to use.

.5oz warrior at 60min.
.75 simcoe at flameout
1oz amarillo at flameout
3 oz amarillo dry hop

Its for a party in 2 and a half weeks. Is this enough time or would adding it all at flameout work?

If you're brewing 5gal, then 0.5oz of Warrior at ~15 aa% only yields about 26 ibu in a full wort boil. So you should consider adding the Simcoe (~13%) as well at 60 minutes which brings you to ~60 ibu. Then spread out the Amarillo in between flameout and dry hop. I like to add "flameout" hops after the wort has chilled down to 150* or so, which is easy to do if you use an immersion chiller or ice bath.

If you're kegging, then you could always save 2 oz or so of Amarillo for the keg (use a mesh/muslin bag).

2.5 weeks is pushing it, so consider using a yeast starter and definitely oxygenate the bejeezus out of that wort...

You can definately get it done in 2.5 weeks as long as your yeast is a fast strain and healthy at time of pitch. I would add WAY more hops at flame out personally though cause right now you are more of a lightly hopped pale than an ipa.

Couple questions though... How long do you plan to whirlpool and at what temp? Temp is going to play a HUGE role in your hop usage and how much bitterness you are extracting. Flame out hops add a lot of flavor and aroma BUT still add IBU's depending on the conditions. however, to get that awesome aroma and flavor, you really need more hops.

If these are the only hops you have, you can still make it a decent ipa though by moving some of those flame out hops to earlier in the boil.

Let me know what you got and the answers to the questions and i can try to help. Cheers

So I'll move the Simcoe to 60min and split the Amarillo between a whirlpool at 180F and dry hop (2oz each). I'll also add 2 more oz of amarillo late in the boil. Do you have any hope selection in place of amarillo. I've used amarillo and city mostly, but would love to expand. Thanks
