Hop package swelling

I have a 1 oz. package of galaxy pellets from hop union that has swelled like a smack pack. Has anyone ever seen this? Can they still be used? I searched but couldn't find anything. Thanks.

I would contact the supplier, hops don't like air.

I would think if it swelled as much as a smack pack the package was not sealed and the hops absorbed so much humidity as to become a package of green mush. If so, and it is over a few days old I would try to get it replaced.

I can't think of anything else or anything good that would make a hop package swell.

They got wet. Probably useless now.

The package is air tight. It was normal when I bought it and it went directly into the freezer. there is no wet slush inside the pellets are still intact.

I've only ever seen airtight packages swell due to pressure...
