Hello. Want to brew a kit from AHS. The hops came as HBU packets, not in ounces. When I put the recipe into Beersmith not sure how to enter HBUs? When I just weight the packets straight into ounces and enter the type of hop, the recipe comes out way high on IBUs. Need some help here. Haven't used HBUs.

HBU = AA x weight.

HBU = AAU. Just different terms.

For example: 1oz @ 5 IBU = 1*5= 5 HBU/AAU.

You can reverse the calculation when you know the weight, and HBU's, to find the IBU of the hop, and then enter it into beersmith.
