Honey malt attracting bees

So I brew a honey pale ale for the lady using a pound of honey malt, was brewing it today and right as i started vorlauf there appeared a couple of bees, wasn't too worried about it then nearing the end of my sparge i realized there was a solid 15 or so swarming the mash tun... Made for a near boilover and a stressful situation. Even had one fly into the boil and fished him out with a strainer.

So a word of advice be careful when using honey malt especially if your allergic to bees

I make bochet mead and I make a point to detain any bee that shows up or I end up with a near swarm around as I carmalize the honey.

I can see them being attracted to the sweet smell of that malt.

We finally caught some yellow jackets in our trap today, they came for the wort and chose the poison water bag by mistake
