Just found out about this forum through Mother Earth Living. Haven't started homebrewing yet. Hopefully I can learn a few things on here, so I don't waste my time... or money.

What kind of Beer were you thinking of brewing?

Welcome. Someone posted that article a few days ago. I kind of wondered if anyone would find us because of it.

I'm leaning towards try to brew some mead. But I think I'll start off with a lager.

Heck of a tough brew to start with. You have to figure out a way to lager it. In other words, keep it much colder than room temperature for several weeks. I've never done a lager so am not an expert, but I know it takes some special equipment and is somewhat advanced.

Most people start with a pale ale. Ferment at room temp and you can make mistakes and it still be pretty tasty.
