So, I brewed this Saturday and everything went great!

However, when it came time to pitch yeast, I noticed the Wyeast American Ale (1056) said it was good up to an OG of 1060.

Problem I have....my OG was 1073.

What are the possible consequences of this oversight?

We are already seeing bubbling in the airlock and it smells fantastic!

Thoughts?

:(

There are many beers brewed with that same strain that have even higher gravities than that. There won't be a problem, though it's under pitching if you didn't make a starter.

Ok. Thanks M.

I know its underpitching. :( I haven't quite gotten to the point of making starters yet. This is only my 4th batch ever. Didn't have and DME!

I know everyone always says "next time" I"ll make a starter but I really mean it this time!

Yeast Calc is super easy to use. +1 for that.

Possible problems? The yeast may not reach your desired FG, to combat this, I would warm up the fermenting beer a few days after fermentation begins (e.g. you pitch at 65* on Saturday, by Tuesday/Wednesday I would be warming it up to 72-75* to keep the yeast working).
