Can someone remind me what HF's policy is regarding bringing food into the taproom? Searched the website but didn't see anything.

I'm planning a trip up on Saturday and the weather forecast looks pretty iffy. Anyone know how frequently Taylor road gets plowed during a storm? I've got a crosstrek so I feel reasonably good about my car's ability to get there. But any info would be great. Also, any locals have a preferred weather source? Darksky makes me wonder if a trip up is a good idea or not.

I'd strongly consider coming up from Hardwick, the hills on that route are less steep, and it takes you to HF just from the other direction.

I met a girl at Doc Ponds who referred to Hardwick as HardDick.
Not sure if this is relevant to the original question but the more you know...

Shaun Hill is easily the best brewer in the world. There's honestly no one else remotely in his class, in my estimation. These beers are so much better than anything else I've had, in their styles, and this is true across so many different types of beer. It's just unbelievable the degree to which I enjoy these beers more than other representations of the same style. I don't say this lightly either. It would be convenient if I didn't need to drive a thousand miles for my favorite beers, but that's just the reality of the situation.

Hadn't been posted in 3 pages so I felt I had to.

Also, if things break right I'm FINALLY popping my Art cherry this week. I'm obnoxiously excited about this.

So it happened. No longer an Art virgin and.....

Eh. It was good. It was really good, but maybe I just built it up too much in my head. It wasn't like the first time I heard the Beatles. Glad I had it and got it over with.

You have a crosstrek, you'll be fine.

this is my first winter with a subaru and my first trip up during a storm. in the past i was always at the mercy of the weather and would just wait till my fwd car could handle the drive. but bge and onsite bottles are too hard to resist this week.
I'll probably be wishing I was in a crosstrek Saturday - I'll be heading up to Hill in a WRX and then driving across northern VT to Smuggler's Notch. Could be hairy in the low car.

I can't imagine a situation where someone who drives a WRX would wish they were driving a Crosstrek instead. No offense to Crosstrek guy. Unless your WRX is lower than stock or you've got high-performance tires that don't work in winter, then I'd venture to say there isn't really an appreciable difference in your ability to make it up the roads to HF vs a Crosstrek. I'll take the power advantage of the WRX in those conditions over an inch or two of ride height any day.

About 5 years ago we got a 20"+ snowstorm in Connecitcut. I drove my winding, steep, uphill road before the plows rolled through in a WRX with all-season tires without breaking a sweat and did about as good as my truck would have done.

Thanks for the votes of confidence. Car is normal ride height and the tires are about as grippy as all seasons get, so I guess I stand a chance. I've always had good luck driving to HF in it, my first trip to Hill was a wild ride during a snowstorm at the Grand Marnier Daybreak release a handful of years back.

Thanks to all the shitlords who went up yesterday and bought so many cans that it went from no limit to 2/pp 6pack limit. Going up for the first time in over a year and all I wanted to do was stock up on some cans.

Guess I'll just drown my sorrows in Art.
