not srs, not even in CW
In all seriousness, do you guys plan to address this by sending a note out to members or taking some other action? I know that this was planned for and addressed in the original terms for members:Collected Works Members should be expecting an email soon...![]()
I considered suggesting this a while back but you could just take a black sharpie to cross out any sort of unique marking so I don't see how it'd be effective. If, hypothetically speaking, each of the CW bottles were tagged or numbered and linked to a name in Shaun's CW "friends list", and each of those "friends" were then told that they would be held personally responsible for where that bottle wound up (while strongly being urged to actually drink the beer they purchase), I would imagine that the incidence of such profiteering behavior would be stymied and perhaps even halted.
Something as simple as:
-If you sell your CW beer, your membership will be revoked.
-If you trade or gift or donate your beer, and that beer ends up being sold, your membership will be revoked.
This, however, would create a lot of additional work for the Hill Farmstead staff. The value of implementing such a policy would really depend on how important the issue of secondary beer sales are to the brewery.
Liked for "pissed in the pickles".In all seriousness, do you guys plan to address this by sending a note out to members or taking some other action? I know that this was planned for and addressed in the original terms for members:
"If any member is found to be reselling our beer, their membership will be canceled and no refund will be provided. If the Collected Works membership is abused in such a way where it is found that people are profiting from their access, the entire Collected Works membership may be subject to cancelation."
But I wasn't sure if that second line meant this clown just pissed in the pickles for everyone. I sincerely hope the action of one individual does not spoil all the convenience and pure joy this club has meant for the loyal members.

Stuff like this has happened with SARA. Always bad apples no matter what policy you implement. If you are selling a bottle via MBC and identified, you are booted out.
I wonder what legal capacity any of these places have to sell "direct" to consumers via online portals or web shops. I think it would be nice if brewers could offer their hot beers to customers direct online for a huge markup. Then the people paying these absurd online prices (if that is actually happening and not just another con) can just support the breweries direct. Breweries can treat it like a charitable donation or maybe some funds that will give back to their actual fanbase's experience.
I was just thinking the number of people paying huge sums can't be that large, so a handful of bottles might do a lot.but does that mean you are now cutting into an already small bottle count in order to appease those who are willing to spend absurd amounts of money?

Just a crazy idea.![]()
I will allow AutumnBeerLove or MSardina1 to inspect my upholstery if necessaryWould have had to be a monthly pickup member since AFAIK the quarterly and twice yearly pickups won't happen until March. The pic posted with the razzle suggested the bottle was in-hand somewhere with bad upholstery.
Most people don't pay crazy sums for a bottle, they buy in to a raffle so a beer estimated at 600$ secondary breaks down to 40$ per slot and 15 slots are available to buy. These groups are filled with 1000s of people and there are new posts every 10 seconds all day long. It's not a con and yes there are way more people than you might think that are actively participating.I wonder what legal capacity any of these places have to sell "direct" to consumers via online portals or web shops. This could still be limited so as to not cannibalize much product for actual consumers, but could at least appease the marks out there that want to pay the big bucks without supporting re-sellers.
Is the shitlord taking lottery entries the same person who "estimates" secondary value? Hopefully not too many people picked up their bottle and it will be easy to identify but seems doubtful. The person that can't show proof they still have the bottle can say they drank it... I don't see this coming to a conclusion beyond "we strongly suspect you..." type thing
We (I assume only CW members who picked up got the email) were asked to show proof today, (by taking a pic with your bottle) the email said if you can't show proof then you may lose your CW membership. I'd be all for a no trading rule on CW beers... but I don't really trade... definitely would work with CW only beers.
it's not like it's difficult to drink the beers you bought... or to just buy beers you plan on drinking...

The culprit would also still have the bottle, they just get someone from the group to post but they are responsible for shipping to the winner so you would want to wait for the raffle to close first and allow 3 days for shippingWe (I assume only CW members who picked up got the email) were asked to show proof today, (by taking a pic with your bottle) the email said if you can't show proof then you may lose your CW membership.
