Bottle I opened a month or so ago seemed very muted and underwhelming. Not a bad beer by any means but def left a lot to be desired especially when comparee to its fresh glory. The bottle I opened 2 or so weeks ago unfortunately seemed to be tainted by diacetyl, very buttery. Both bottles produced crystal clear pours, though one was almost completely still.

When you sit a HF saison down vertically after purchase and don't touch it for a few months, then pour carefully - that's what you get (almost) every time. Gorgeous.

Come to think of it, the same thing happened to me with a bottle of Florence.

I still remember being surprised and somewhat amused when I got a draft pour of Arthur at Parker Pie and it looked like Bud Light with how clear and light-colored it was.

This was when we went together, right? I think it's confession time. I told the bartender that no matter what you ordered, they should pour you a bud light. We kept waiting for you to notice and say something, but you just kept going on about how good "clear Arthur" tasted. We didn't have the heart to tell you the truth after seeing you so excited about it

Wow, it feels so refreshing to be able to finally come clean.

Lots of praise for "pale Damon" that night as well.

I guess this is a good time to let you know that Apple Brandy Mexican Cake I sent you a few years ago was refilled and recapped with regular Mexican Cake and a splash of Laird's Apple Jack.

there's a big difference between some haze in the beer because clearing it up any further will affect the beer... and what we see from other breweries which can range from not trying at all to purposely going out of their way to make it look more turbid

This can't be repeated enough. Too many breweries out there are deliberately and borderline-artificially trying to recreate the HF/Vermont/Northeast "look". To me an HF or Trillium IPA has a uniform haziness that's really appealing to the eye, which is way different than this chicken soup type appearance some breweries are going for where the beer looks like muddy keg dregs.

Anybody pop a bottle of George recently? Drank one earlier, can't believe how well it has held up. I'll admit that I'm a bit of a Jorge fanatic, but this was tasting delicious - creamy and chocolatey with that subtle hop bitterness that rounds it out perfectly. Realllyyyy hope this is bottled again.

Haven't had one recently, but I'm with you. Really hope it gets bottled again so I can grab a couple cases. I didn't like brown ales..... til I met George.

How do you know about Jorge?

How do you know about Jorge?

Jorge? Jorge es mi amigo.

Jorge is the Tequila barrel aged version of George, our grandfather's brother as well as the name of our American brown ale. Selected barrels were aged on a variety of organic peppers, notably jalapeños, from Mexico for several months. The result is a vibrant, refined expression of both harvest and craft.

Share. Consider. Enjoy.

this is not racist enough.

What ever happened to those barrels that HF used to age maple syrup? I was under the impression that beer was going to go into those but I feel like it's been a couple years. Anyone know anything about it?
