I can do that, just wanted to make sure that I wouldn't get chased off the property for getting there too early.I'd get there at 10:30 in all honesty. Getting there at noon will be a 2-3 hour wait

trying to get back to CT by a decent time, which rules out late afternoon.Go in the afternoon between 3-4 and probably have a shorter wait than the hour and a half you'd be waiting if you went at 10:30, or the possibly more than hour and a half wait if you showed up between 12-1
Even on a Friday folks are getting there at 10:30? I would definitely agree with you on a Saturday. But I guess I haven't been up on a Friday recently so I'll just shut up.
Not Elab 3 I believe - Elab 3 was made with Brad from Jackie O's and it has tea in it I think.Even on a Friday folks are getting there at 10:30? I would definitely agree with you on a Saturday. But I guess I haven't been up on a Friday recently so I'll just shut up.
Elab 3?
Thank you for reminding people that arriving at 10:30am necessarily means at least a 1.5 hour wait. It seems people too often forget to include this in the discussion, as if waiting outside before opening does count as waiting.Go in the afternoon between 3-4 and probably have a shorter wait than the hour and a half you'd be waiting if you went at 10:30, or the possibly more than hour and a half wait if you showed up between 12-1

But if you know that HF opens at noon, then you know that you're waiting from whenever you get there until they open. I'd rather get there at 10:30, wait, and be able to get on with the rest of my day.

yeah, as Koko points out.. I think the early thing is usually for a lot of us that are not from the area...
I've always said "if you're travelling for beer, you should never be in a rush to get in and get out"... that said, not much is going on before noon... so if I get my "wait time" out of the way early and have the rest of the afternoon to enjoy VT, that's the plan... all depends on what else the day has to offer
Typical VT Trip
Drive up to Waterbury at night.
Late Dinner/Drinks
Sleep
Stagecoach Breakfast
HF
Scrounge up some Heady
Enjoy VT
It's the "getting on with the rest of my day" part that makes an early arrival definitely make sense. I was just reacting to the wait-time conversation that somehow doesn't commonly seem to equate a 1.5 hour wait time outside the doors with a 1.5 hour wait time inside the doors. But if you know that HF opens at noon, then you know that you're waiting from whenever you get there until they open. Wake up @ 4-7AM after being kicked in the gut, shins, balls and back by kid that will not stay in her own bed.
7-9AM: remove growlers from closet while watching wife negotiate tooth brushing child for 20 mins.
8:45AM: Lose caps for non-HF growlers, find them in kid's lunch box
9AM: Drop kid @ school 30-50mins late
9:15AM: Fall asleep behind tractor on 100 on/way to Mo'ville.
10AM: rethink trip to HF, toss coin for Lost Nation growler fill instead
11AM: make up excuses for not generating any income while finding ways to go to HF
NOON: Do or Die time
1-4: Drive 45-60m, wait 1-2hours, drive home...
but really.............
12:15PM - bag whole idea, smoke a bowl, pop a shelf brew
2PM: Spend next 3 hours self-loathing & trying to make money
5:30PM: Pick up child
6PM: Answer questions about why I'm cranky
Easy, there's no way you can read that post and not say that kids changed that dude's life. He was probably much happier before kids.Where was the part about "having a kid is the most life changing amazing thing you'll ever do as an adult"? Cause I'm not seeing it.
I'm way too selfish and stingy for kids. sounds like Hell.
I have never driven 100 without at least 1 of the following: 1. Stuck behind an out of stater traveling 10 mph below the speed limit, 2. behind a tractor or manure truck, or 3. cow crossing.
Preach on, brother!Where was the part about "having a kid is the most life changing amazing thing you'll ever do as an adult"? Cause I'm not seeing it.

Haha my 5 month old son has already made the trip from Boston-HF 4 times. The key is to have a VERY understanding wife.Where was the part about "having a kid is the most life changing amazing thing you'll ever do as an adult"? Cause I'm not seeing it.

Imagine how different the beer scene would look if it were only populated by married men with children, visiting breweries only with the blessing of very understanding wives.Haha my 5 month old son has already made the trip from Boston-HF 4 times. The key is to have a VERY understanding wife.
I would spend way less time in line and would probably be able to get more bottles. It would be like 2012 HF again!Imagine how different the beer scene would look if it were only populated by married men with children, visiting breweries only with the blessing of very understanding wives.

So am I, Adam, but it's worth it. My kid helps balance out my selfishness and she knows we love beer - so she'll be going to Vera Mae day every year they have it.I'm way too selfish and stingy for kids. sounds like Hell.
I didn't read it like that at all! No worries. I'm not pro-kid, just love my wife.well said. re-reading my post it sounds like I was shitting on your choice to be a parent. I totally wasn't. It's a huge responsibility, one that I'm not ready for..thta's all.
