Today was the first time in a while I pulled up turned around and noped right outta there. 1:15 retail was almost to the road. Crazy...
Consolation prize was a wheel of Harbison for $11. Perhaps tomorrow afternoon..
Retail took ~2 hours from start to finish. The employees were plowing through the orders as fast as they could too, just a ton of variety and shitheads like me coming through the line.

Can someone give me a low-down on what the can situation is like? I know there aren't any limits listed on the website, but are they posted at the retail shop? And/or is this one of those situations where the limit is "within reason" if there's a large supply but gets dropped to a strict number if the supply is low? One of my buddies will be up there this weekend, and I want to have him grab me some stuff, but don't want to ask for things where he'd be cutting deep into his own personal stash.

Recently it has been straight up no limit, but in the past it has been no limit early in the week then dropping to limits if they get crushed with traffic on weds/thurs (2x 4-packs has been somewhat common I think, but depends obviously). It seems like they’ve been upping their canning pretty aggressively, but from reports about how busy it was yesterday/how much busier it will get, it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see limits on cans. But if there are limits it does get updated in the retail shop along the walls, similar to how it does with the other limited stuff if limits change (and Kevin can correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe can limits have been posted on the website from time to time when they were limited)

Limits were just updated on the website. 12 cans per style per person for this week

That article is pure gold.

All I could I think about when reading it was him "yelling" at us for ignoring White Buffalo at FoFA this year.

I agree with his sentiment fully, one of the reasons I still own a flip phone is to mitigate the temptation of being constantly in touch with social media. As a high school teacher, I get to see the immense danger that the over reliance on social media is having. The growth/explosion of the "Instagram" culture is only to get worse as more and more of my former students enter adulthood.

It is things like this that make me wish I lived closer so I could drink Mary and talk about life with Shaun...

Mary is the beer Shaun wishes he’d never drink with you.

doesn't seem like people here really took the article in a negative light but just in case.... here's what he posted on BA

Hello Everyone,

I haven't posted here in quite some time - but thought this was a good time to weigh in with a few statements.

I was in Plzen, Czech Republic to speak as the Keynote at the annual conference for the IBD (Institute of Brewing and Distilling). The chair/organizer of the conference had asked that I meet with a UK journalist that wanted to do an interview. We met the day before the conference and spoke for over an hour in a small conference room at Pilsner Urquell. James asked about how I came to brewing - about my travels- about Hill Farmstead and my thoughts on New England IPA. This was perhaps 95% of the interview. Maybe even a higher percentage. He asked a question about a comment that I made in a Good Beer Hunting podcast concerning consumption and alcohol in the beer industry - and I answered with some of what is quoted. I was not really speaking about any of these items - I was simply answering the (guided) questions that the journalist had asked.

When I started receiving text messages this morning about this interview - I was incredibly curious why people were sending me notes... until I saw the original headline: "Beer Industry 'failing to address' mental health and alcohol link." My heart sank. How was this the lead of the interview? This person had asked me my thoughts about dozens of topics - and somehow had crafted a lead that made it seem as if I had intentionally sought a soapbox from which to speak. This material was less than 5% of the entire conversation but had been purported to be much more than I could have ever imagined.

I certainly take issue with the light in which this article portrays my thoughts - as if I am some sort of of new wave prohibitionist with a puritanical self-righteousness. I was drinking half liters of Pilsner during this very casual interview.

I am made to appear that I took an interview in order to talk **** about all of my peers for being drunks and mentally ill. The quotes/lead are out of context and, frankly, quite frustrating. I was asked to conduct this interview as it coordinated with my keynote speech on innovation in the brewing industry. This was a casual interview that, sadly, ended up with some sort of sensational headline that was a modified version of our conversation. No soapbox. Just an honest look at my life with an interviewer who seemed, at the time, very genuinely interested in learning more about how Hill Farmstead came into existence. Little did I know...

Thank you all for allowing me to share my thoughts here. Please go back to enjoying beer. I will never conduct another interview with the same innocent naivety again. My understanding is that both Garrett Oliver and Paul Jones (from Cloudwater) had similar experiences with this same journalist. Taking fragmented thoughts and portraying things out of context.

I’m curious to see the vintage retail offerings the rest of the week. I get the feeling CD Citrus didn’t get the blood flowing for folks.

Looks like the retail vintage bottles escalated quickly. I can only assume tomorrow will feature Ann, DBD, and Le Sarrasin and I will hate everything.

Not so much on the retail side- WoL Tired Hands and "vintage" 2018 E. (1 pp each), and the 3F oude kriek 375s (4 pp). Can limits were imposed, and they sold out of the remaining BA Dotty. Curious what happens for Friday and Saturday, prepping for massive crowds and cutting back the on-site offerings.

The retail side had Flora to go

Not the way I took the article but I can understand why Shaun was annoyed. I did feel like the headline sold it short because the really interesting stuff in that article is not about mental health, but whatever.

Yeah, it's completely understandable to be frustrated when you feel like you were misrepresented by a journalist. It's also sad to hear that Shaun will likely take this as a lesson on not being so candid in interviews, as I think he offers a very insightful and interesting perspective particularly on topics such as this.

I thought the title was somewhat misleading, but the article raised interesting points of conversation and I didn't read anything that I took as condescending or judgmental, I did think back to FOFA and the moment JGlitz87 mentioned. I would say that as a community we would all be better off participating in these types of discussions (or those based on the title rather than the contents of the article) but I think many of us on TB are already willing and engaged in similar discussions, at least at times (see Tasty Beverages thread). Kudos to Shaun for offering these thoughts, even if it wasn't exactly what he intended.

Just skip to the last 2 paragraphs of that article and ignore the headline (in of itself another issue)
