i prefer repelling from my helicopter. can't believe they didn't put in a helipad for me.

Flora satsuma for onsite the week I leave town......grrrrr...... So butt hurt I won't be able to go there the next month if anyone wants anything from Belgium and is willing to grab me whatever I miss in the next few weeks let me know.

Wurst of the froots imo, still flora

your opinion is....

so that new Leaves of Grass... color me impressed.

not a style I gravitate towards normally, but it was so well executed, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

again, call me a (distant) homer... but it blows my mind they make and are known for awesome saisons and hoppy beers.. but then can make a style like this and hit the mark so flawlessly

it was a nice change of pace/surprise for me...

not saying it's as good as Aaron, but it made the same impression on me on how I don't think of that style for HF but they completely nailed it.

Was it a gusher?

It was also one of the better of the 4 releases from the infamous DBD day. I remember the backlash from that release and how Shaun stopped posting new beer releases on his site for the next month or so. Funny to think that was over 2 years ago.

It was also the last time we saw Bourbon Damon. Where is that old dog hiding these days?
That day was a rough day

A few TBers had a share last year at my spot on what I believe was New Years Day and Satsuma was holding tight. Flavors were all very subtle but pleasant. Not a huge amount of citrus, but more still than the only other bottle I had tried of it. I have been told bottle variation existed with that beer as far as Orange character. Regardless, I would guess the aim was not to be a bottle of orange juice (even though some breweries are pulling off things like that well these days too). The wine character might have been too delicate to throw more fruit at it.

I mean, Shaun has done that in the past.

Yeah, 'bottle of orange juice' was just some good old fashioned tongue and cheek beer hyperpole- not at all intended to dismiss highly fruited styles. I love ultra-fruited beers, I was just trying to draw an extreme I guess.
Specifically thinking of Mimosa...

How are they working on premises beers. I know they make you split things but do they pair you up with people to split stuff etc. Will be there 12/24 and want to try all the on premises stuff, in moderation of course, but am not sure if this is possible without like 8 people depending on the rules.

That day was a rough day
I was naïve enough to think people would follow Shaun's request and showed up at like 11am. I saw the line and I rolled down my window and shared a laugh with Phil and did a u-ie and domed a bottle of Lou Pepe Kriek and Bangkok Disco at Parker Pie. #suchislife #neverforget #9.26.13

Brand new Willi Becher pint glasses! These 33cl Rastal glasses are emblazoned with our logo and a 25cl pour line on the back. Perfect to split a nice 500ml bottle two ways or a 750ml amongst three friends. $6.

Want, need, must have.

where'd you see that?

I hope they last for a while... these are the glasses I want most.

edit: NVM... just saw it on the website.

And here I thought showing up at 1030am that day was pushing it... Ended up not even leaving my house.

If I remember correctly, I got there about 9:30 am. Couldn't believe the amount of people there already, should have known better.

The worst part about that day for me was that there were at least 3 line counts that put me at about #280 in line,
ended up #301.

Those bechers are grey/silver right, rather than the light etched ones that we were discussing earlier in here? Do want.

I guess it's just me and bsc on this one. I enjoyed many a bottle of Flora Satsuma, but it was easily the least "interesting" of the fruited variants (BBR excluded as I haven't tried that yet).
I loved it too but the issues with it is citrus and its high water content, then with the satsuma mandarin which is good but not an incredibly flavorful fruit. Even fresh, the expression was subtle

Posted in ISO:FT as well, but anyone from NYC area heading up to HF soon mind grabbing 1-2 extra Willi Bechers? Would also be open to trading or sending $+label for those not in the area. Thanks!

Just go up and order a beer and ask for the number of glasses for amount of people you are planning on sharing with.

yeah i'll be rolling solo.. figured they aren't going to allow me to dome a 750.. guess a 375 is ok though.. do they limit you to one order of 375ml I guess is the question?

if anybody will be up there tomorrow and wants to share some on premise stuff, drop a line here, probably be heading to hill early-mid afternoon tomm.
