That is most likely true but it does seem petty OCD to brew every single batch and I wouldn't be surprised if it was partially done to feed his ego from the praise he gets.

I'm okay with that... if OCD leads to hard work and the want to improve and perfect a craft... I'm just perfectly fine with that... if he enjoys the praise he gets for it, I'm ok with that as well... his beers deserve praise, as do any great breweries out there...

Coming from MN Thursday. We are staying at Smugglers Notch Friday the 10th-Friday the 17th. Plan on hitting up HF at least once. Bring lots of Toppling Goliath goodies to share/trade including Pseudo, Zeelander, Golden Nugget, King Sue, and a could bottles of Assassin.

Hoping to buy a case of Heady early in the week, Fiddlehead Thursday if they have a can release, stop at Lost Nation, and the Warren General Store Friday?

it's going to be a world of difference from the first time I set foot in that place...

Need to take an updated photo of the construction. I know Bob M has taken a ton for their FB page.

The brewhouse size growth is the most shocking. maybe that and the old retail space. Also side note, I should have gotten into drone videography earlier. I'm going to take some aerial shots of the new brewery in a few months w/ Shaun's permission and wish I had some from 2012 for comparison. Do you guys know if there are any aerial shots of the brewery ?

is the girl in the 2nd pic the one before Kerrie started that also worked at a butcher shop where they sold lots of rabbit? lol

I like her a lot. She is currently a chef @ Parker Pie and yes she has / had a rabbit farm. We always talked about rabbit care when I was in line and she gave me some great tips on my own animal husbandry endeavors. We chat sometimes @ Parker. Sadly, I never got to buy any meat from her. I didn't know the protocol of going to someone's business (HFS) then buying goods from an employee who runs a side-business.

If it helps to make consistently awesome beer, as a consumer I'd prefer for him to brew every batch alone.

oh wow... maybe I've never seen her at Parker or just have not recognized her if I did... she was super nice as you can tell the conversation I had with her back then is still one I remember... might have to do with an awkward event that happened later that day but still memorable nonetheless...

It doesn't have to be OCD when you are a "maker" (for lack of a better or standard term) controlling every
aspect of what you make. That's what people do, especially craftsmen/women and pride is part of the package.
IMO, it's just easier for non-makers or craftspeople to go hard on the "he's a pretentious dick" theory rather than accept a misunderstood craft process. When a person devotes their lives to making stuff, ego and process and all the in-between
stuff is just there. Chalking it up to a compulsive disorder is too easy.

as someone with a mild to moderate functional OCD, it's funny that his initial post did not bother me at all... I see your point coldafpipes but I also have learned that OCD in many ways can translate to something positive... and it would actually makes sense here...

Not sure it's even very OCD, they are still a tiny ass brewery.

How many 'brewers' do you need when doing a few thousand barrels a year?

Not saying it's not possible just saying, from a maker's perspective, it's much larger than "X" classification.
It's just easier to lump into a category than really understand why/how creative types actually do ****, which can
be really, really unforgiving. Does OCD set personal parameters for accomplishing tasks? Sure. Are those particularly
challenging? I'd think so...but we don't see the same labels on say, Sean Lawson as we do for Hill, despite having
similar product control. Coz Lawson is chill and slightly humorous?

It's like picking those dandelions, everyone was in on the process and the product, helping a "maker" make, but clearly
confined to specific parts of the process. IMO that's more along the lines of how people craft things, rather than 'this
is how a compulsive personality crafts things'. Maybe it's entirely splitting hairs or contributing to the philosophical
navel gazing seemingly connected to all things HF, but it is relevant to me as someone who consistently sees a lot
of small, small rural businesses doing OK by adhering to really limited and heavily controlled practices.

Anyone know how soon on Arthur and Art? Thinking of making my first trip up for either of those.

Shaun mentioned on twitter that Art would be out before the end of October... things change though, so not sure...

usually don't find out a release date until the week of

Best bet is checking HFS' retail page Monday before you go to bed

Their bottle release page doesn't get dates of upcoming beers but it will get updated when a previously upcoming beer is now on the shelf.

No one except Shaun knows when those beers are going to come out. Even "before end of October" could change. Every Tuesday night, I fill my car up with gas on the way home just in case I gotta run up on Wednesday to grab some delicious beer.

Thanks for the info guys. I usually check the retail/bottle release page a few times a week just to see if anything has changed. Trying to plan a "sick day" around the next Arthur release, Art would just be a bonus.
