I'm brewing a IPA which had an OG of 1.077:rockin:. After a week and a half of fermentation its still thumping pretty good... at least every second. This is abnormal compared to all of the other beers I've brewed (all in the 1.05 range). After reading several compelling arguments on here on HBT I was thinking I would NOT use a secondary, and leave it in the primary, but now I'm starting to wonder if I'll need to leave it longer than 4 weeks, and if I should consider transferring it. Any thoughts or experiences?

If its thumping, let it thump. No sense racking off of yeast that is obviously not about to die. Are you dry-hopping? Some people will move to secondary to dry hop, however it's probably not necessary. But obviously you don't want to dry hop something that is "thumping"

yeah, holding off on the dry hop.... Pretty normal for higher gravity beers to still be this active after a week and a half?

here is the recipe for the 5 gallon batch by the way
10lbs pale 2 row
1lb crystal 60
.5lb biscuit
60min@152
fly sparge at 164
1lb DME at 60
1oz Magnum @ 40
1oz simcoe @ 15
2oz A. Cascade @ flame out

currently waiting on fermentation to slow before I dry hop with
1oz simcoe
1oz A. cascade

water straight from my well, as I feel it gives my beer a bit of uniqueness that can't be recreated even if I post the recipe online.

Wait to dry hop, brewed a DIPA w/ 8 oz dry hops, I didn't wait till the yeast settled and they took most of the aroma/flavor with them.

btw check it out
