what happens if you bottle drink a high gravity beer??? ( like a 1.030 - 1.026)

if it hasn't stopped fermenting(and at 1.026-1.030 it probably hasn't) when you add the priming sugar to bottle the yeast will generate more c02 than the bottles can hold and you will get bottle bombs.
check the gravity with a hydrometer and if the same for 2-3 days, then it is safe to bottle.
