This is ridiculous. I left my car in a parking lot for the last week or so because i flew down to Arizona to see the SWMBO and upon returning i found 4, yes 4, door dings on my car. Bah, my poor BMW! So i am requesting any sort of knowledge on the best method to get rid of these little buggers. None took off paint, just nice dime sized dents and i don't feel like dropping a couple hundred to fix it.

So yeah, probably hopeless but i was just seeing if anyone had some trick they could enlighten me on. I've seen those tv ads for the remover things but i don't quite trust anything that comes on info-mercials.

Thanks guys, i figure someone might know something. I am mechanically inclined, but have never done body work.

:mug:

You have a BMW and dont want to pay a little to fix it? I don't think any of use can help ;)

You could TRY one of those weldless dent puller kits. I doubt it'll completely eliminate the dings.

Does your insurance cover this sort of thing? Real body work is likely to be a bit expensive ($1,000-ish?).

EDIT:
Here's a couple of links to the kits I'd be tempted to try. They're marketed as "Paintless Dent Pullers." Eastwood usually doesn't sell junk, so these are your best bet.

Cheap version.
"Pro" version.

Those dent pullers work well on larger dents, I don't know if they will work on small dings. Just might be something to check if/before you buy.

Well correction on the BMW. It's a 1984 E30. I have a sad love obsession with 1980's german automobiles. I've fully restored it and just put some slotted rotors on it. I just don't see it worth a couple hundred bucks so i figured i would see what options there might be. Thanks Yuri, i will definitely check those out.

Good call...I failed to notice the "dime sized" comment...

Call Eastwood and ask 'em. They should be fairly helpful.

I agree. With small dents your BEST bet is to bang them back out from behind with a rubber mallet. That's all you can do.

Unfortunately, you may have seen the advertisement where they pull out small dents...guess how they do this? They drill a hole in the center and pull out with a hook then you have to bondo the hole and repaint...yeah, that EXACTLY what I want to do to my Beemer...idiots!!

Thanks man, i'll give them a ring. Damn body work, always a pain. Give me a broken down engine and no problem, a small dent, give me a beer instead.

An e30 is one of the best cars ever made. You keep that car in good shape.

Find some young guy who works at a body shop and has the professional small professional suction type dent pullers and offer a 6er of homebrew and $20 to do it after work.

A guy I used to work with had an X who put several fist marks in his brand new dodge pickup, you couldn't see anything afterwards.
