I am putting together a HLT it is an insulated Rubbermaid 5 gal. I am going to use a single pole 20 amp circuit, 1500 amp electric water heating element to just keep temps up, no steps. I am looking at a controller PID something like MYPIN or a more expensive Auber Instruments PID, but there are so many models.
Can anyone help choose the right one?
looking at ones like this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007MMOEWY/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

no responses yet from you electric brewing pros. might be I should post this in beginner section. I have been checking it out, also how to wire it. I will use a MYPIN AGPtek® Dual Digital Display PID Temperature Controller SSR(2Alarms)model with ssr and a 25A temperature control relay with a heat sink to power my 120v 1500A heating element. Share your input if so inspired.

That will work fine for a HLT. You could also use the TA7 which has the same functions but it a little bigger.

Most everybody ends up with either the TA4 (no manual mode) or TD4 (has manual mode), or a Auber equivalent. There are some other parallels as well like the REX C100, but I think you're best off deciding between MyPin and Auber. If you want customer service, get an Auber. If you want cheap, get a MyPin.

As for SNR/SSR/RNR, those letters refer to which outputs are available. S = SSR trigger, N = nothing, R = relay trigger.

Here's a bunch of great documentation.

And correct me if I have any wrong info - I'm still learning and setting up my own system!
