I'm trying to figure out how much water I need for mashing and batch sparging but beersmith is missing malts from a few of my ingredients.

Any advice? (Already tried adding grain profiles but its difficult to get a lot of the info required). I'm using my newly made cooler mlt.

We will need more information to be as accurate as possible. However, for your mash the typical range is between 1 - 2 qts per lb of grain. I go with 1.25qt/lb.

The sparge water makes up the rest of what I need to get to preboil volume.

Just add the same amount of a different kind of malt. The amount of water you need only depends on the weight of the malt, not the type.

Excellent, thanks. What I was looking for was rahr pale malt but ill just sub plain pale malt in bs.
