need to know whats the correct way to hook a contactor up. if it was hooked up backwards, will it be fine?

A & B = From Line 1 and 2
C = Switch or SSR?
E & D = To the Elements
F = Switch or SSR?

I had a similar question when I got my contactor. Without knowing which contactor you have here, I'll assume it's a 2 Pole 30 Amp Contactor with 120 Volt Coil. If not, then the wiring will be different.

A & B = From Line 1 and SSR
C = Switch
E & D = To the Elements
F = Neutral

There is no polarity.

hio3791 is correct with one modification. Since you have a 240VAC Coil you will instead of F being neutral it needs to be the other hot leg.
