I bought a set of miscellaneous EQ off Craigslist a few weeks ago. Mixed into the set there is a Firestone keg with horribly mismatched components, which has made identifying the keg type so that I can order the proper replacement parts rather difficult.

The threadings for the gas and beverage posts are different, which eliminates the Firestone A and Firestone R types (assuming this is correct). It came with a three-pin beverage fitting on the gas post (which, notably, doesn't have a dip tube, or a space to install a dip tube, underneath it). Since that three-pin doesn't fit on the actual beverage-out post, it has to be from another keg type...

Logically, this means the keg would be of the "Firestone V Challenger, Firestone VI Challenger, or Firestone Super Challenger" class - the John Wood/Firestone Challenger can be eliminated since there is no 11/16" beverage-out fitting that could be mistakenly applied to the gas-in post, but it could easily be a 9/16" thread from a Firestone A or R that was mistakenly attached to the gas post (the only post on this keg that would fit it).

For those of you who actually know the keg types by sight, and whose eyes glazed over just now... Can anyone confirm that the pictures below are for a Firestone V Challenger, VI Challenger, or Super Challenger? Bonus points if you know a good place to get a reasonably-priced new set of fittings.

The fittings (and the poppet from the beverage-out fitting):

* I'm not entirely sure it's the right poppet... It fits neatly in the fitting, but doesnt actually seal. I think it just needs a new gasket to keep it pushed flush against the aperture, but I havent bought one yet.

Thanks in advance! Would love to add another keg to the collection for the cost of new posts...

Yeah, I suspect that was just the result of someone attempting to convert it to a ball lock and giving up halfway through the process... The guy at my LHBS said the keg was set up for pin lock, though. Am I correct that the width of the posts on pin lock are larger than on ball-lock kegs? The ball-lock fittings from my standard Corny are too small to fit on the Firestone (not an issue of threading, the holes are totally different sizes).

Assuming I'm correct about the threading and the assumption that the keg was originally set up for pin-lock, my tentative hope is that something like this would get the job done...

I would guess its a challenger 5 due to the A5 stamped on the front.

could someone one help me identify this vessel? all it says is property of coca cola, manufactured by firestone steel company spartanburg sc, model f

I know it's been over a year, but any chance you ever figured out what it is? I have the same exact keg, but with different posts than what you have.

Unfortunately, no... I have the keg in the garage in case I ever do, but by the time I had spent a fair share of the cost of a new keg in shipping fees for new parts to test, I gave up.
