help. I just broke my only air lock.

I am about 30 min into my boil and I broke my only air lock. Getting a new one is not possible and the only person I know to borrow from is not home. Any ideas on how to make one? I use the standard bucket for a primary.

I would use a blowoff tube until you can get an airlock.

Cover your bucket airlock hole with SaranWrap. The CO2 will find a way out.

Do you have a racking cane and tube? You can cut off about 3 inches of the racking cane, and attach the tube to one end. Stick the other end in the fermenter (if you're lucky, it will fit perfectly). Put the tube end in a large bowl with about a quart of water in it. (Of course, sanitize everything first.)

BTW, this is how you set up a blow off tube.

Fantastic response time gentlemen. You are all my heroes. I have been able to create a blow off tube. Just needed to get input from outside the disaster area!
