Help! How to mount burners on wooden stand!?

I'm not sure where to place my two burners on my stand. I was originally going to place them just on top of the plywood (blue line), but decided not too considering the height of my stand. Would it be possible to place them where the red line is located? I am also worried about fire danger any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I know those burners are pretty good at having the heat go straight up but I think once you put a pot on them they will deflect some of the heat toward the wood. Maybe use a step stool or milk crate to reach up higher and still put them where you originally planned on.

My preference is not to put an open flame in a wooden frame (no poetry intended). The thread on a total metal strut build is now what you are looking for, but perhaps a partial metal strut structure would be safer.

In that thread, most use a table and pumps. the few with a burner up high have the barrel on a metal stand over the wood, not a burner between wooden members. Maybe substitute your highest framing members with metal L bolted. Or like the one in post #7 of that thread.

If it was me, I wouldn't be concerned with fire danger with what you have going there. I would also remove the shelf portion where your kettles are sitting and put your burners where your red lines are. Very similar to my setup.

Last time I checked, wood is flammable so any deflection of the flame towards the wood risks catching on fire

Is go with the blue lines and perhaps put a sheet of metal against the wood

Thank you everyone for the advice, it was very helpful! After reading the replies and a little more research I cam up with an idea and let me know what you think. But I am thinking about placing the burners at the red lines, but also adding heat/wind shields to the burners?

You can always put metal flashing around the 2x4's that are close to the outside edge of the burners for protection. The main issue, as I see it, is where are the 2x4's in relation to the burners and also the bottom of the keggles/pots. I have a wood brew stand with a double burner subset into the framing and I don't have any issues at all. Then again I have a few inches (up to 3") of space from the edge of the burner and maybe an inch or two from the bottom of my keggles. Granted my keggles don't hang over the wood either. The wood gets warm to the touch, but does not scorch. I say trial and error it. This is DIY, but there are tons of us out here that use wood brew stands and we don't burn down our brew stations or homes. Give it a try, pay attention and if you see scorching kill the flame. +1 on the flashing around the wood you might be concerned about!
If at all possible, leave an air gap betwixt the wood and the flashing.
Not much, 1/8 inch will do, and the natural convection, ( re: chimney action), will keep a cooling and insulating layer flowing over the wood.
