Help...Element too long for Kettles?

I am trying to get my Electric brewery up and going and I am at the point now where I am installing the elements into the kettles. Ive got 3 10 gallon SS Brewing kettles. I purchased 2 5500 watt DIY elements kits from ebrewingsupply.com. I drilled the hole and everything seemed great until I put the element in. It hits the other side of the pot and its too long by about half inch or so. Am I missing something? Do I need another part?

I don't think another part is going to make your pot any wider. Assuming they sent you the correct elements and your pot is just a little more on the slender side than other pots I would say try to return/exchange the elements for ones that would work.

Pics of what you're trying to do would be helpful too.

Actually he can make it work by using either welded, weldless or soldered on Tri clover adapters onto the element and kettle... like these.. https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/tc15wlf.htm they can give you the extra inch or so he needs.

Well OP didn't tell us the elements he bought, so we don't know if the TC route will work.if this path isn't a good one, some gentle bending of the elements can help buy some space. Easier if these are ripple elements of course.

he did..though he bought kits like these http://www.ebrewsupply.com/element-assembly-complete-kit/.. which if he bought the ripple is 16.9" (according to the most likely manufacturer here https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/5500w-ss304-electric-brewing-heating-element_60361881970.html) or 14.25 if its the straight one. They make a 1" element threaded TC fitting that threads onto a standard ripple or straight element and will butt up to the tc fitting on the kettle... this will move the element out about an inch or more...

Yep, thats what I got. Thanks alot. I just purchased a couple of the TC fittings you linked to. Hopefully they will do the job which they seem like they will. Thanks.

Don't forget you need the adapter which accepts the element threaded portion.

Well, you only need the TC flange shown in this: https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/etc3.htm

Bobby may sell it separately but I didn't see it. That said, this kit would replace the one noted above. I personally think this is a more elegant solution than the general electric enclosures, but YMMV.

I do use one of the hot pods brundog linked above and they are very nice actually... They just stick out a bit more than the solution you went with.

I think the thread on the element is 1", no? This adapter only comes up to 3/4". I would just ask Bobby to sell you the adapter from the kit - I am sure he would accommodate it.
